Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, who were injured during a scuffle at the Parliament entrance. The incident occurred amid heated protests by the Opposition, allegedly involving Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
According to BJP MP Pratap Sarangi, the chaos unfolded when Gandhi pushed another MP, causing a domino effect that led to Sarangi's fall and a head injury. "Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP, and he collided with me. I fell and sustained a head injury. It was his action that triggered the commotion," Sarangi alleged.
Rahul Gandhi, however, denied the accusations, stating that BJP MPs were blocking and threatening him and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge from entering Parliament. "If cameras have recorded it, they will show BJP MPs were the ones shoving us. We were only exercising our right to protest," Gandhi responded.
The scuffle broke out during a protest led by the Opposition against Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks in the Rajya Sabha, which they claimed disrespected Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The Opposition demanded Shah's resignation, accusing the government of insulting the Constitution and its architect.
The BJP retaliated with its own counter-protests. MPs, including Anurag Thakur, raised slogans demanding an apology from the Congress for "disrespecting Dr. Ambedkar." Thakur also slammed the Nehru-Gandhi family, claiming, "The Congress has a history of disrespecting Ambedkar. They delayed awarding him the Bharat Ratna, which was finally given by a non-Congress government."
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju added a sarcastic twist, quipping about Rahul Gandhi’s martial arts training: "Have you learnt karate or kung fu to beat MPs?" The incident has further escalated tensions between the BJP and Congress, highlighting the deepening divide in Parliament.
